Berlin, September 3rd, 2015 – The launch of the new Philips AmbiLux TV will take the immersive viewing experience to a superb new pinnacle with 4k Ultra HD and introducing Ambilight projection technology, the most significant development yet for the unique Ambilight system.
The AmbiLux represents a true highlight in the new Philips TV range thanks to its razor-sharp UHD picture quality and the best in European design, combined with the powerful Android TV™ operating system and the next level of Ambilight performance to give a TV experience unlike any other.
The 65inch Philips AmbiLux model will reach the shelves during the fourth quarter in Europe and Russia.
Philips Ambilight projection, a new experience of light and motion
The classic Philips Ambilight system uses rows of LEDs mounted on the rear of the set to create a coloured halo of light on the wall behind the TV. The colours precisely match the on-screen content to create the impression of a larger image and to provide a more enjoyable viewing experience. The revolutionary Ambilight projection technology now frees the actual images from the constraints of the set by using nine tiny pico-projectors, each precisely positioned on the rear of the AmbiLux TV. Intelligent overlap technology allows a seamless projection of the onscreen image, motion and colour on to the rear wall surrounding the set. Precision technology ensures that the Ambilight projection system can project images with superior clarity, vivid colour and supreme contrast to create an immersive experience that truly breaks the boundaries of TV viewing.
Colour your music and your whole room
Further developments in Ambilight technology take the system beyond just films and TV and can enhance the enjoyment of music too. The new Ambilight Music Mode provides a coloured halo of light that can follow and react to the dynamics of any music played through the TV, whether via a streaming service such as Spotify, USB or a music channel. Consumers can choose from a variety of colourful pre-sets or simply select the randomizing party mode.
Integration with the popular Philips Hue Smart Lighting takes Ambilight even further by providing a whole room experience for total 360° immersion.
Crafted lightness
Despite adding the rear-mounted projectors and powerful processing, the AmbiLux has been beautifully engineered to maintain a razor-slim, elegant form. European design and authentic, premium materials ensure a high quality finish with the ultra-narrow bezel, achieving a seamless connection to the Ambilight halo, and the polished chrome Bladewire stand creating a light, floating appearance. The sophisticated design allows the AmbiLux to effortlessly enhance even the most stylish of interiors.
Superb picture quality from any source
The Philips AmbiLux 4k Ultra HD TV has four times the resolution of a conventional Full HD TV and the unique Ultra Resolution upscaling technology ensures that all images, regardless of the original source, are reproduced with the same detail and sharpness of native Ultra HD. Pixel Precise Ultra HD processing technology digitally adjusts and optimises all content for improved sharpness, increased depth perception, superior contrast, smooth natural motion and flawless details.
Android TV and Quad Core processing for enhanced Smart TV experience
The Philips AmbiLux TV is powered by Android TV™, giving access to all TV orientated apps, services, and content in the Google Play™ Store while also complementing the existing Philips Smart TV offering. Effortless operation and fast navigation is possible thanks to powerful Quad Core processing and an advanced remote control with QWERTY keyboard, swipe pad and speech recognition technology.
