Philips 6000, 7000 and 8000 Smart LED TV series offer a diversified Smart TV experience by combining ease-of-use and excellent picture quality

Amsterdam, The Netherlands – Today, Philips announced three new Smart LED TV series featuring advanced Smart TV functionality, superb picture quality in 2D and 3D and ease of use. A wide selection of Smart TV applications meets customers’ requirements for diversified online infotainment services that can be enjoyed on a TV with an appealing design. The three new series will be available during the second quarter of 2012 in Europe and Russia.

Smart TV provides for a comprehensive infotainment experience
The 6000, 7000 and 8000 series TVs have everything onboard to enjoy the world of digital content delivered via broadcasting and the Web. Thanks to embedded Wi-Fi, the TVs easily connect to wireless home networks and the internet. A wide selection of apps, access to online videos stores and media libraries and also to Catch up TV offerings provide an extensive infotainment experience. Skype voice and video calls1 can easily be enjoyed in high quality on the TVs by exploiting their excellent sound and picture performance. Additional features such as pointing control and navigation on the 8000 series models and also Wifi Smart Screen – the possibility to pull digital TV towards the iPad tablet –will be available later this year via software download.

Superb picture quality and vibrant sound
To keep pace with the even fastest action scenes, the 7000 and 8000 series TVs come with 800Hz Perfect Motion Rate2. Their high-gloss panel intensifies the colour and contrast perception and also contributes to the 7000 and 8000 series’ stunning design, which is characterized by an ultra-narrow bezel. The Soundstage on the 7000 and 8000 series provides a powerful sound experience delivering pure sound along with a vibrant bass performance.

High-quality 3D performance
The new TVs are all 3D enabled. While the 6000 series features a 3D panel with passive polarization technology, the 7000 and 8000 series make use of active shutter glasses technology. All TVs come with 2D to 3D conversion that adds three dimensional depth to any 2D content in real-time. As perception of 3D content varies from user to user, Philips offers the possibility of customizing the 3D depth level to the viewer’s personal liking. Two Player Full Screen Gaming for 2D games The 3D TVs deliver a stunning gaming experience. In Two Player Full Screen Gaming mode two players wearing Philips 3D glasses can simultaneously enjoy 2D two-player games on the full screen.

Three-sided Ambilight on 8000 series models
While the 6000 and 7000 series TV feature a two-sided Ambilight, the 8000 series models come with an even more immersive Ambilight on three sides of the TV. Ambilight automatically adjusts the colour and brightness of the light to match the TV picture and, thanks to the wall-adaptive function, the wall colour as well.
