Philips’ 4000, 5000 and 5500 Smart LED TV series provide a sophisticated yet highly affordable Smart TV infotainment experience

Amsterdam, The Netherlands – With the introduction of its 4000, 5000 and 5500 series TVs, Philips renews its offering of Smart TVs targeted at users looking for state-of-theart online services and high picture quality without exceeding a decent price point. The three new TV series feature a sophisticated choice of Smart TV applications including access to Catch up TV, internet browsing, USB recording and usage of online apps. Moreover, the 5500 series devices offer a high-quality 3D experience. The screen sizes of the new series range from 81cm (32’’) to 140cm (55’’). They will be availablei in the second quarter 2012 in Europe, Russia, the Middle East and in selected countries in Latin Americaii and the Asia-Pacificii region.

Smart TV: combining online and broadcasting services for perfect infotainment
Via Wi-Fiiii the new TVs can wirelessly access the internet via the multimedia home network. This opens a world of rich content accessible via online video stores, digital media libraries, YouTube, and the open internet. Catch up TV and USB recording ensure that users can watch their favourite movies, shows, sports events and daily soaps whenever they want. Thanks to DLNA compatibility it’s easy to stream videos,
music and photos from connected devices. The new TVs are also ready for video calls. The Philips MyRemote App, an app for tablets running on iOS and Android, enables users to browse an electronic program guide while watching TV. The app even allows video recordings to be scheduled from wherever you are in the house.

Brilliant pictures without artifacts
The three TV series models feature Full HD LED backlit panels with excellent colour rendering. Thanks to a 200Hz PMR (on 4000 series) and 400Hz PMR Perfect Motion Rate (on 5000 and 5500 series), they are able to display fast action scenes smoothly without any blur. Any artifacts and noise in movies are detected and reduced, ensuring a clear and pin-sharp picture independent from the source.

3D entertainment on 5500 series TVs
Thanks to the integration of active shutter glasses technology, the 5500 series TVs are able to display 3D movies with excellent picture quality. Philips also offers real-time, high-quality 2D/3D conversions of any 2D content at the push of a button. The Two Player Full Screen Gaming mode provides a full-screen experience for both gamers of 2D two-player games.
