TP Vision wins 2024 iF Design Awards for four outstanding Philips TV & Sound products
TP Vision has always clearly understood the importance of European design and craftsmanship to the Philips brand and its central role to the appeal of premium Philips TV & Sound products. Not only has this European design led strategy won enthusiastic support from consumers, the company has also consistently received official recognition from industry design experts, including the latest four wins for Philips TV and audio products at the 2024 iF Design Awards.
The iF Awards have been recognising the very best in product design for more than 70 years and are given in recognition of outstanding design achievement. As one of the premier global design awards the competition attracted over 10,800 submissions, from nearly 72 countries, in 2024. The awards criterion includes consideration for: innovation, formal quality, functionality and ecological compatibility.
The 2024 if Design Awards winners include Philips’ new outright flagship OLED+959 TV, the very premium OLED+909 TV – both created in partnership with audio specialists Bowers & Wilkins – the ultra slim B6309 soundbar and the A5608 bone conducting sports headphones.
All four products were created by the dedicated European Design team, based in Amsterdam.
Commenting on the new awards, Rod White, Chief Design Officer for TP Vision said: “The best of European Design is widely recognised as a key and unique differentiator for our TV and audio products and is something that continues to repay our investment in a dedicated design team based here in Europe.
Good product design leads to our customer’s satisfaction and pride-of-ownership actually increasing over time and we believe that experience is as equally important as the products’ outstanding performance.”
Philips OLED+959 Ambilight TV
The OLED 959 Ambilight TV is a true flagship with a restrained design that still readily communicates performance.
From the front aspect only the new sustainable light grey wool, melange Kvadrat acoustic fabric can be seen on the integrated slim sound surface. The same fabric wraps up the sides and top sides of the OLED panel.
The fabric conceals a Bowers & Wilkins sound system with three front speakers, sides firing speakers and two top firing Atmos speakers. There is a further exposed subwoofer mounted on the rear of the set.
The OLED+959 is also the first TV to feature the new Ambilight plus technology.
The aluminium floor stand comes in a non-metallic finishing befitting domestic tech trends and the accompanying RC offers wireless charging.
Philips OLED+909 Ambilight TV
The OLED+909 design builds on the success of previous Philips Ambilight TVs that have discretely integrated superb Bowers &Wilkins sound into the area below the screen.
For 2024, the sound surface is slimmer while preserving Bowers & Wilkins signature sound quality. The 4-sided Ambilight system also benefits from the extreme tightness of the set’s dimensions.
Dark melange Kvadrat acoustic fabric – in sustainable wool – is used for the lower front sound system while the larger subwoofer speaker is exposed on the back cover.
The TV’s stand uses recyclable aluminium – without unnecessary finishing processes – and the accompanying RC come with wireless charging to complete the high performance, sustainable proposition.
Philips B6309 Sound bar
The B6309 Soundbar offers big sound from a very compact form factor for both the Sound bar and accompanying Subwoofer – targeting a consumer demand for enhanced TV sound from a discreet, restrained product design that can easily fit into modern homes.
A significant reduction in Subwoofer volume was achieved while retaining the expected, deep sound performance.
The Subwoofer can be used portrait or landscape orientation so can be concealed easily within the living space.
Philips A5608 Bone Conduction Headphones
The A5608 Bone Conduction Headphones join the hugely successful Philips GO dedicated Sports headphones platform.
Bone conduction technology helps the A5608 to hit the identified user case study by offering an outdoors sports product where good sound is balanced with secure fit and open ear capability for safety.
For running or cycling these are the perfect headphone solution.
Designed in the Philips GO form and finishing language the diagonal grooving allows for sweat management and unsighted usability.
