TP Vision’s ongoing, successful programme to ensure Philips branded TV and audio products remain the reference standard in the AV market has again received the highest professional recognition with four wins in the 2022/23 prestigious EISA Awards.
Philips Ambilight OLED TVs have enjoyed a continued success with EISA due to their combination of outstanding picture & sound quality, innovative technology plus exceptional European design. That award-winning combination has made Philips Ambilight OLED TVs winners again in 2022 but has also been extended to include the company’s hi-end 8807 LCD Ambilight TV – uniquely marketed as ‘The One’ thanks to its easy-to-understand consumer offering of high performance with all the essential features required.
In the audio section, the revival of Philips Fidelio has continued to gain momentum and has been recognised by EISA once again with a second consecutive win in the soundbar category, with the superb Fidelio FB1 taking top honours in 2022/23.
The EISA Awards (Expert Imaging and Sound Association) represent the ultimate recognition from the AV industry’s peers. For the past 40 years the organisation has been selecting the very best in TV, imagery and sound products – all uniquely judged by the ESIA jury of experts representing 59 of the most respected specialist technology publications and tech gurus, from 30 countries – from across the globe.
Commenting on the EISA Award wins, TP Vision’s Chief Marketing Officer Martijn Smelt said: ‘The TP Vision team has made a huge investment in time and resources to ensure that Philips Ambilight TVs and Philips Audio products continue to set the pace at the top end of the AV market. So, we are naturally delighted that our work should receive the official recognition of the expert authority in our field. We have total respect for the EISA judging team and are exceptionally happy that admiration has been returned with wins for our TV & audio products’.
On Awarding the 65” OLED937, EISA Home Theatre TV of the Year 2022-2023, the judges said:
Sound quality is high on any TV buyer’s wish-list, and Philips puts it front and centre with the 65OLED+937. Its integrated speaker system, designed by Bowers & Wilkins, is the ideal match for a stunning picture performance from the TV’s high-brightness ‘EX Royal’ OLED panel, and P5 AI Dual Picture engine with Advanced HDR tone mapping. This 5.1.2-channel speaker bar sounds enveloping and largescale – new side-firing drivers and redesigned Dolby Atmos units expand the sound field, the centrally mounted titanium dome tweeter adds succinct detail and positioning to dialogue, and a 100x65mm bass driver packs a fast, deep punch. Design isn’t an afterthought either, as the smartly angled enclosure dovetails with the TV’s desktop stand to make the 65OLED+937 a feast for the eyes as well as the ears.
On selecting the 55OLED807 as the EISA Best Buy OLED TV for 2022-2023, the judges said: Philips’ mid-tier OLED proposition, the 55OLED807, offers a performance and specification that feels far in excess of its affordable price point. Combining the latest, higher-brightness ‘EX’ panel with a new generation of the brand’s well-established and high-spec P5 processing engine, this smartly styled flatscreen – with scene-stealing Ambilight illumination and rotating stand – mixes black level prowess, astonishing HDR peaks, crisp 4K sharpness and authentic, vibrant colours. A comprehensive range of picture pre-sets is joined by in-depth image adjustments, making the 55OLED807 suited to telly addicts and tweakers alike, and with connections including twin HDMI inputs offering support for 120Hz video and variable refresh rates, gamers are invited to the party too.
Most impressed by the ‘The One’ (55PUS8807), the EISA judges said: Also known by its maker Philips as ‘The One’, this 55in LED-lit LCD TV rises to the challenge of bringing all-round movie, TV, and gaming entertainment to your living room, without breaking the bank. A significant upgrade on its predecessor, the 55PUS8807 targets console gamers with new Game Bar feature and HDMI 2.1 connections, while the comprehensive Android TV 11 smart system ushers in streaming platforms and music- on-demand. 4K HDR playback (including HDR10+ and Dolby Vision) is bolstered by the set’s vibrant colour and high brightness delivery and impresses even in well-lit rooms. Furthermore, the wide-angle viewing potential of the TV’s S-IPS panel means every member of the family can enjoy the show.
Recognising Philips Fidelio sound bars as the pinnacle once again the EISA judges said of the Fidelio FB1: The jewel in the crown of Philips’ Fidelio range is the FB1, a feature-packed soundbar that serves up a fantastically far-reaching performance from just one box. Bass delivery stands out, the FB1’s dual built-in subwoofer units showcasing the power, poise and depth usually expected of an external sub, and the separate driver arrays for the LCR channels bring excellent dialogue and effects handling. 3d audio – whether Dolby Atmos, DTS:X or virtual – comes via the soundbar’s cleverly illuminated up firing speakers. Overall, there’s a fluency and articulation to the FB1’s performance that’s utterly captivating, and this also carries into its delivery of music, making it a soundbar for every occasion.
Both the 55” OLED807 and 55” PUS8807 are on-sale across Europe now. The 65” OLED+937 will be officially launched on 31st August. The Philips Fidelio FB1 Soundbar will be available as of August 2022.
